May was a culturally dense month in Tbilisi, with lots of interesting events. During May 17 – 20, in the framework of Oxygen _ Tbilisi No Fair, growing number of artists of various backgrounds exhibited their artwork in STAMBA, former publishing house, one of the most prominent 20th century landmarks in Tbilisi, that deserves an entirely separate post.
33 solo and 2 group expositions had us experience and interact with the artworks/installations at our own pace, rethink the familiar and construct the meanings in a vast, yet-to-be-exploited, stunning industrial building. Everyone reacted and responded to the works differently, which is not a bad thing, for the lack of uniformity is what actually distinguishes Contemporary Art from other disciplines. It is always subject to individual interpretations.
